Episode 178: Is Work Helping or Hindering Your Healing

In Our Conversation Today, We’re Exploring:

  • How work can actually help us with the healing process at times

  • The one question you need to ask yourself about the role your work plays in your healing

  • The stories we tell ourselves about how taking time away from work to heal will lead to more hurt

  • A framework for evaluating the role work should play in your healing process

This episode was inspired by a recent conversation Eric had with his tattoo artist while he was getting his latest tattoo. The artist struggles with back problems and has found that he isn’t allowing himself the time to heal because he feels like he needs to keep grinding at work.

What was especially interesting about this conversation was the same points were brought up by our clients who regularly work on the weekends, refuse to take all their vacation days, or power through the exhaustion day in and day out.

The conversation also made it clear that it’s time for us to tackle this topic here on the podcast and dig deeper into the role that work is playing in your healing process.
