Episode 133: Building A Better Relationship With Work Part 2

As we continue our conversation from last week, we explore the importance of holding ourselves accountable for our part in the experiences we’re having at work. While this may feel like tough love, this accountability is empowering because it’s a recognition that we have a lot of power to change what’s not working for us. And this acknowledgment of what’s not working can prevent us from detaching or “quiet quitting” because we take the time to notice what’s not working, reflect on it, and move forward to make changes.

We also discuss how to define what we’ll accept from our relationship with work and how to make shifts if we feel we’re not honoring ourselves in that relationship. We draw inspiration from the film 20 Feet From Stardom, where we hear about backup singers and their quest to claim their worth.

And we can learn something vital about work from this example: You don’t necessarily have to leave if something isn’t as you’d like it.

You have the power to recognize your worth and to ask for what you need. When we do that we get the answer to whether we should stay or go. We also get out of the blame game, recognize what works and what doesn't, grow our confidence, and know that we have options when it comes to what happens next.
